We Are Engaged: What Now?

First and foremost: relax and enjoy this beautiful, loving, and happy time in your life. Soak up the congratulations, loving wishes, and people’s happiness in your decision to marry in the future.

Then decide on your preferred date - what month, year and geographic location suits you best. Do you want an overseas wedding? Perhaps a beach wedding or is swimming with sharks more your style? [that’s not me!] But one thing is for sure, the list of options for your Marriage Ceremony is almost endless!

A Celebrant may not be able to deliver your exact ceremony, for example, swimming with the sharks. Or they may not be able to travel a distance. Plus, it’s important to know that Marriage Celebrants in Australia are unable to perform overseas weddings. Also, you may need to gain advice regarding certain overseas weddings or religious faith that is recognised in Australia.

Once a potential date and location have been decided, it’s time to research and book your celebrant and wedding venue. Many venues and Celebrants are booked a full year in advance. For me personally, it is heartbreaking to have a couple phone me with their venue booked and many other items [flowers etc] only to find that I already have a booking on that day, and time.

Remember: Your Wedding Day cannot take place without your Marriage Ceremony.

Let me explain.

A Wedding Day has many ‘moving parts and decisions involved to ensure it is what you can afford, what you want, and who you wish to attend, plus much more. However, your marriage ceremony is the legal part of your wedding day. One can’t happen without the Marriage Ceremony.

A Marriage Ceremony requires the services and skills of a Priest, Minister or Registered and Authorized Civil Celebrant.

Your Celebrant has undertaken special training, passed exams and must continue to complete Ongoing Professional Development as set out in the Marriage Act 1961 and The Attorney Generals Department.

So, it is appropriate to check that your chosen Celebrant has both the qualifications, registration and most of all interest and skills to deliver what you hope for in your Marriage Ceremony.

Talk to me today about your wishes and dreams, as most people dream about what their Marriage Ceremony will be. Let me help you make your dreams come true.
